Real Estate Wednesdays; “That’s How You Ring The Bell”

This past Wednesday Those Callaways celebrated the holiday season by ringing silver bells and collecting donations for the Salvation Army. Those Callaways were participating in Real Estate Wednesdays. A concept originated last summer. As Joseph and JoAnn had lunch with The Salvation Army’s super volunteer, Marlene Klotz Collins,   JoAnn told Marlene how dedicated she and Joseph were to the red kettles at Christmas. Marlene explained to JoAnn how Wednesdays were a challenge when getting volunteers. “The Army actually has to hire paid workers to ring the bells,” Marlene said.  JoAnn volunteered herself and Joseph, and by dessert she volunteered the whole Home Ownership Industry.

After months of planning this Wednesday more than a thousand real estate volunteers rang the belles at over 170 locations.

Each Callaway team member not only helped but also brought volunteers. Everyone from their spouse, the family dog and even Kathy’s future singing star participated. It was a festive feeling for everyone including one team member, Robin Peterman. “When you’re doing something for others it nourishes your own soul,” Robin Peterman said.

Donations raised through the red kettles support Salvation Army programs throughout the year transforming lives and giving hope. These programs address homelessness, emergency assistance (rent, utilities, food), domestic violence shelters, disaster relief,

substance abuse recovery, low-income senior housing, human trafficking abolition, military assistance, holiday dinners, educational programs/tutoring for youth and adults, sports programs and more. Donations stay within the community received.
